Job Description

The Center for Health and Community (CHC) in the Department of Psychiatry houses the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Evidence for Action (E4A) National Program Office and is responsible for the implementation of a multi-year national grant-making initiative.  The Deputy Director plays a significant role in senior management. The primary roles of the National Program Office involves managing a portfolio of approximately 90 grantees, including providing technical assistance, facilitating peer learning and networking, and disseminating research findings in a manner that is useful and accessible to stakeholders. The Deputy Director co-develops the program's strategy, policies, budgets, initiatives, and communications efforts, implements the program strategy and achieves program goals through the coordinated achievements of program staff and multiple internal and external partners, and oversees day-to-day program operations, including supervising program staff.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Academic Program Manager. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing and enhancing academic programs, ensuring their smooth operation and success. The position offers a unique chance to contribute to the academic and research endeavors of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UCSF, a leading institution in healthcare and community well-being.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: - Doctorate degree in related area and six or more years of related experience including at least five in a lead/supervisory role and / or equivalent experience / training. Terminal degree in a related area (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) and / or equivalent experience / training required. - Academic or research background and recognized expertise in selected area. - Expert oral and written communication skills. - Leadership experience in academic and / or government agencies. - Demonstrated expertise in building collaborations between academia, industry and / or governmental agencies. - Demonstrated expertise with program building development and implementation within a leading academic institution and administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices. - Expert ability to work with dynamic and diverse group of internal and external partners. - Managerial experience and proven success in managing a complex research or philanthropic program(s). - Excellent negotiation skills, including ability to resolve conflict among various groups and individuals. - Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative programs or research agenda. Skills in organization and customer service to effectively manage multiple important priorities. Preferred Qualifications: - Established relationships and reputation with philanthropic leaders
