Job Description

UCSF Fitness and Recreation inspires wellbeing and health on the UCSF campus through fitness, community, and play. The Recreational Sports unit is an integral part of Fitness and Recreation and provides excellent customer service while ensuring participants participate in Recreation programs and leagues in a safe and fun environment. The Recreational Sports Staff works under direct supervision of the Recreational Sports Manager and is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the Recreational Sports unit, which includes customer service, creating and following lesson plans and providing quality instruction to all program participants.

Recreational Sports is looking for high energy, dynamic, positive, outgoing staff to be a part of our unit and UCSF Fitness and Recreation. The position is part-time at 40% variable with an average working week consisting of 8-16 hours. Access to our wide variety of classes, equipment and facilities is included with employment!

Qualifications
Required Qualifications : - Certification to instruct in the applicable recreational sports program and/or equivalent experience. - Verbal and written communication skills in the English language, active listening, dynamic flexibility, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills. - Ability to exercise independent sound judgment and employ reasoning skills. - Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills. - Knowledge and experience related to sports - Excellent communication & coaching skills verbal and written - Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check. - Ability to apply UCSF HR policies. Preferred Qualifications : - Demonstrated experience serving in a leadership role - Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties. - Knowledge of campus policies and procedures. - Working knowledge of program activity practices and procedures. - Experience in coordinating/participating in adult league sports - CPR/AED & First Aid certified
