Job Description
Under supervision, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, with the direction of the Medical Director, utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care for Dermatology patients. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required by patient need. Coordinates new and existing patient paperwork relevant to care to be given. The LVN triages patient phone calls and messages, directing assessment need calls to RN or MD. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the medical and nursing team. They are expected to be proficient in the electronic medical record (EMR) system of the Medical Center (EPIC/APeX).
Department Description
The UCSF Dermatology Surgery Clinic at Mount Zion specializes in advanced surgical care for skin conditions, including skin cancer, cosmetic procedures, and complex dermatologic concerns. Led by expert dermatologic surgeons, the clinic utilizes cutting-edge techniques such as Mohs micrographic surgery to ensure precise treatment and optimal outcomes. Dedicated to patient-centered care, the team combines clinical expertise with a focus on safety and comfort. In addition to providing outstanding surgical services, the clinic engages in research and education to advance the field of dermatologic surgery and improve skin health for diverse populations.
Qualifications
Required qualifications: - Minimum of 2 years of experience in a dermatology environment or 3 years of experience in a surgical environment - Familiarity with process of prior authorizations to obtain specialty biologic medications. - Must have worked in a medical team consisting of several providers and an administrative assistant, knowing in-basket management, assisting with medication refills, coordinating services and scheduling of appointments and procedures - Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office. - Ability to prioritize work efficiently and independently, demonstrating strong self initiative - Excellent communication to patients and all levels of personnel with excellent writing skills. - Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. - Ability to use electronic medical record. - This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Preferred qualifications: - Phlebotomy certificate License/Certificate: - Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California - Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
