Job Description

The Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst is primarily responsible for managing the Department of Anesthesia Faculty Compensation Plan within the Clinical Operations team. Key responsibilities may include independently conducting and interpreting complex financial assessments and modeling, leading internal audit processes, and developing reports and/or dashboards on key operational metrics to support decision-making by senior leadership. This individual will implement systems to be consistent with policy and external requirements.

Leads calculations and reporting for faculty incentive payments and identifies opportunities for workflow optimization and/or automation when feasible.

Advises on the feasibility of requested updates to the compensation plan by modeling various scenarios and forecasting their impact. Evaluates the viability of proposed changes and assesses program-specific factors to arrive at a final recommendation for the Department Leadership and Faculty Compensation Committee. Develops, audits, and presents performance reports to review utilization and workload associated with all clinical shifts.

Leads internal audit process and evaluates on an ongoing basis, the frequency and depth of audits necessary based on the level of risk to the department. Identifies notable themes and trends and develops mitigation strategies as appropriate.

Partners with the Clinical Operations Scheduling Specialist/s to ensure operational readiness for expansion efforts, including the integration of new sites where Anesthesia faculty will provide clinical coverage.

Leads the development of Tableau or other dashboards to enable effective data visualization and reporting for the department.

Informs strategic financial planning by analyzing and presenting complex financial, productivity, and benchmark data, and provides recommendations when there are opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: - Minimum 5 years of related experience. - Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field and/or equivalent experience/training. - Advanced knowledge of financial or accounting concepts, policies and procedures, as well as related accounting and regulatory compliance requirements. - Advanced knowledge of organization and systemwide financial processes and procedures. - Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheet and database software. - May require analytical skills sufficient to develop and implement financial data management and reporting systems. - May require skills in project management, leadership, and process re-design. - Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. - Advanced leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff. - Skills include service orientation, ability to multi-task effectively in a varied, high volume environment; uses sound judgment and decision making, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and effective verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels. - Two to three (2–3) years of experience with project management in a complex healthcare environment. - Two (2) years of experience in a leadership role; direct reports not required. - Experience with Tableau or other data visualization platforms. - Experience working in an Academic Medical Center or School of Medicine Department. - Experience with QGenda scheduling and reporting functions. - Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record. - Master's degree in a related field. - Lean/performance improvement certification. - Project Management certification.
