Job Description

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team. 

Under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor 2 of the Adult Non-invasive & Electro Cardiology Services, the Registered Nurse performs stress studies following the department’s policy and procedures with minimal clinical supervision.

The Registered Nurse will practice under the California Nurse Practice Act and ANA Standards of Practice utilizing the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe testing. These include assisting with all pharmacological (including nuclear medicine, dobutamine, and PET exams); non-pharmacological stress tests (treadmill, supine bicycle); tilt table and invasive and non-invasive echocardiographic procedures (trans-esophageal and transthoracic).

Provides coverage for other cardiology non-invasive lab nursing staff members. Performs other duties for the non-invasive cardiology labs (e.g. IV insertion, contrast administration, performance of trans-esophageal testing, moderate sedation monitoring, documentation, etc.). Serves as a resource and advocate for patients, staff, and faculty.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: - Two years experience performing exercise/treadmill stress echocardiography tests, or f ive years RN clinical experience working in adult Critical Care ICU, CCU, Cath/EP lab, ED, or IMCU - Proficient in ECG interpretation - Ability to work at all UCSF Heart and Vascular locations - This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations Preferred Qualifications - BSN - Proficient in starting IV's/venipuncture - Adult exercise cardiac stress test experience - Moderate sedation experience - Research/teaching or experience at an academic teaching hospital - Congenital heart experience License/Certifications: - Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California - Active American Heart Association CPR Certification - Active ACLS Certification
