Job Description

The Adult Infusion Centers at Mt. Zion and Mission Bay service the Medical Oncology population at UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as any non-oncology infusion needs of patients at UCSF. The treatments include but are not limited to chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, hydration and electrolyte therapy, injections and blood draws, enzymes and iron infusions, and antibiotics. The centers collectively consist of over 100 chairs/beds and treatments include research and standard of care infusions. The infusion centers are staffed by Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, and Practice Coordinators. 

The Outpatient Infusion Clinical Nurse II delivers direct patient care to an assigned adult infusion outpatient population.  This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer and non-cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements.  The nurse is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: - Two (2) or more years of recent RN adult clinical Oncology Nursing experience - Minimum of two (2) years of recent outpatient Infusion experience administering chemotherapy/biotherapy within last 3 years - Experience administering infusions, pain management, transfusion therapy, hydration, etc. - Knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to this position - Demonstrates evidence of basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of complex patients such as oncology and a high degree of attention to detail - Must demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities. Ability to function independently and effectively with shifting priorities and considerable pressure - Must be able to function under stress and with strong interpersonal and communication skills - Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, team work, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.
