Job Function Summary:

Involves the supervision of staff and operations to provide technical and support activities for anesthesia, clinical support and / or operating room services. Ensures machinery, equipment and supplies are calibrated, maintained and delivered to units efficiently. Develops and implements operational and service standards in accordance with internal policy and external regulations.

Generic Scope

Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or organizational policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.

Custom Scope

Supervises the activities of anesthesia technicians. May also supervise equipment technicians and patient care assistants. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Req / Pref Solid subject matter knowledge to train and guide employees on anesthesia care and / or equipment techniques Req Knowledge of relevant medical center, HR and UC policies and processes Req Solid knowledge of relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations Req Skills in employee supervision and HR administration Pref Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment Req Solid customer service and diplomacy skills to resolve escalated issues in an effective manner Req Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others throughout the organization Req Maintains cooperative working relationships with professional and administrative staff, peers, multidisciplinary team members and management Req Ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking process Req Solid verbal and written communication skills to explain technical anesthesia concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel Req Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software Pref Solid knowledge of organization's anesthesia documentation application programs Pref
