JOB SUMMARY
The primary mission of the CVRI, the largest organized research unit on the San Francisco campus is to promote fundamental and clinical research on the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems and to provide opportunities for postdoctoral training in these fields with over 400 faculty staff and fellows the CVRI Is comprised of faculty from a variety of departments (Pulmonary Medicine, Biochemistry and Biophysics, Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology, Medicine, Pediatrics, Anatomy, Physiology, Cardiology and Lung Biology).
The position offers technical support to approximately 400 faculty and staff who use PC and Macintosh computers. The primary functions of this position are Workstation installation and maintenance. Application Server installation and maintenance, maintaining functional integrity of the LAN and connections with the campus network, hardware and software installations and maintenance, troubleshooting set up, upgrading and configuration of computers, managing Active Directory accounts, and supporting connections to the hospital information system (APEX)
The position also supports and backs up Windows and Unix Based servers. Manage Screen connect remote software.

The primary mission of the Cardiovascular Research Institute, the largest organized research unit on the San Francisco campus, is to promote fundamental and clinical research on the cardiovascular and pulmonary respiratory systems and to provide opportunities for postdoctoral training in these fields. With over 200 faculty, staff, and postdoctoral fellows, the CVRI supports faculty from a variety of departments (Medicine, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Lab Medicine, Pediatrics, Anatomy, Anesthesia, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Physiology, Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology). The total extramural funding is $29 million annually (direct and indirect costs), with $1M in indirect cost return, and $561K in State funds. Assets include $38 million in endowment income and gifts, $3M in clinical reserves, and $5.8M in opportunity funds.
