Job Description

The Orthopedic Technician supports the clinical activity of the orthopedic provider and orthopedic clinics. The Orthopedic Cast Technician is responsible to coordinate all activities related to casting including casting, order and maintaining of supplies, inventory, and care of equipment. The technician will be responsible for the orderly maintenance and inventory of the Cast Room and designated orthopedic care areas. She/he is responsible for knowledge of , competency and compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures as implemented by the department and/or work unit and UCSF Medical Center. The individual will room
patients in addition to casting responsibilities. Additionally, adherence to departmental policies and procedures, including telephone and house standards is required.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: - This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations - At least three years experience as an Orthopedic Technician - Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy - Ability to work independently with good organizational skills - Good communication skills. Ability to be clearly understood and can explain care of cast to patients - Ability to be friendly, courteous and work in a cooperative manner - CPR certification - Certification as an Orthopedic Technician Preferred Qualification: - 5+ years casting experience - Phlebotomy certification - Procedure and medication preparation experience
