Job Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Qualifications
Required: - High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years of related experience; or bachelor’s degree with 6 months of related experience; or equivalent combination - Ability to pass fingerprinting and be approved for cash handling (if applicable) - Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ability to navigate multiple electronic systems - Ability to analyze situations, prioritize tasks, and problem-solve independently in a fast-paced environment - Strong organizational, administrative, and office coordination skills - Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment under deadlines - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and provide patient-centered service - Basic math skills - Knowledge of medical terminology - Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods Preferred: - Experience in a healthcare setting (medical, dental, or veterinary), including scheduling, insurance verification, medical records, or patient financial services - Experience with appointment, ancillary service, and/or surgical scheduling - Experience with EPIC (APeX) electronic health record system - Bilingual or multilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Cantonese, Russian)
