Job Summary:

Under the direction of the /Supervisor, transports patients to various areas of the Medical Center and/or operates as patient transport dispatcher.  Also responsible for transporting patient equipment and various other patient related paraphernalia in a 24-hour operation, 7 days a week.  Incumbent will complete all tasks following departmental guidelines and University policies and procedures.  Work in unison with dispatchers, supervisors, and management to perform at a standard which is acceptable by the department of Patient Transportation Services.

Patient Transportation Services is a vital department focused on ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of patients within UCSF?s healthcare facilities. The team plays a critical role in supporting patient care by facilitating transportation to and from various locations, including hospital rooms, diagnostic and treatment areas, and other clinical settings. With a strong commitment to patient comfort and safety, the department?s highly trained staff work collaboratively with medical teams to address individual patient needs while maintaining a smooth workflow across UCSF?s healthcare system. Patient Transportation Services also contributes to operational efficiency by coordinating logistics and minimizing delays in care delivery. As an integral part of UCSF?s healthcare operations, the department is dedicated to upholding the institution?s values of compassion, excellence, and professionalism, ensuring every patient?s experience is seamless and dignified.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: - Minimum of six months relevant work experience. - Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. - Ability to work effectively within a team. - Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job description. - Willingness to be taught/learn new skills. - Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (addition and subtraction). - Ability to organize and effectively set priorities. - Ability to carry out duties of first responder in emergency situations. - Basic computer skills. Preferred Qualifications: - Previous experience as a patient transporter License / Certifications: None
