Neurodiagnostic Services Manager

This leadership role will support UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland and San Francisco.  The manager plans, develops, implements and directs the daily clinical and business operations of the Neurodiagnostics Department. This is a hands-on leadership role involving regular interaction with supervisors and staff and facilitating several detailed activities such as creating the monthly schedule and initiating supply orders. The manager is responsible for all inpatient and outpatient activities at both Parnassus and Mission Bay hospitals. The manager is responsible for hiring, orienting and/or training new staff, supervising technical and administrative support staff, organizing daily workflow, overseeing effective operation and timely maintenance/repair of equipment, initiating customer service and performance improvement projects, and serving as a resource to physicians, staff, patients, visitors and the community. 

The manager works collaboratively with the Adult and Pediatric Epilepsy and Neurodiagnostic Medical Directors to supervise the daily clinical operations of the EEG/Epilepsy service at Oakland and Mission Bay Campus. The manager organizes the daily workflow and supervises the technical staff to ensure operation efficiency, technical quality and service excellence. The manager is also responsible for ensuring timely and accurate charge document submission, as well as developing, and monitoring the operating and capital budgets. The manager is responsible for the strategic growth and development of all Neurodiagnostic services. The manager will be responsible for developing new collaboration opportunities both internally and external to UCSF with the Director for Epilepsy Services.

Required: - - Graduate from a 2-year Neurodiagnostic technology training program, accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or equivalent combination of education and experience. - A minimum of 7 years’ experience in EEG, Evoked Potentials, Long Term Epilepsy Monitoring, Brain Mapping and Epilepsy Surgery. - A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a health care setting - ABRET Certification on one or more modalities - Clinical practice knowledge of relevant neurodiagnostic function(s) and applied background. Knowledge of terms, concepts, and protocols. - Knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes. Knowledge of relevant external regulations. Ability to apply policy knowledge to suggest improvements to compliance risks. - Leadership skills in employee supervision and HR administration to effectively lead and motivate others. Conflict resolution skills to resolve personnel issues and counsel assigned staff to develop cooperative working relationships. - Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment. - Ability to organize departmental operations in an efficient and effective manner through improving neurodiagnostic processes, procedures, and systems. - Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and assigned staff. - Ability to collaborate within and across departments to integrate daily patient care activities and resolve problems. - Solid understanding of internal neurodiagnostic information technology applications. Knowledge of available information technology software in the neurodiagnostic field with recent experience with computer networks/servers and databases - Ability to independently analyze, resolve and/or present alternative solutions to short-term and long-range problems/issues - This position requires the flexibility to orient and work in all UCSF Medical Center locations - Prior experience in the areas of strategic planning, financial planning, financial management, program development and implementation - Demonstrated knowledge of pc-based computer applications including, but not limited to Windows and Microsoft Office - Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, clinical professionals and staff - Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment requiring strong verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. - Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare billing and insurance procedures, financial principles and practices Preferred: - Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. - Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations relating to the healthcare industry and those pertaining to EEG and Epilepsy
