The Staff Speech-Language Pathologist (Speech Pathologist 2) works with pediatric patients across the age
continuum – infants, children, adolescents – and from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
providing both direct and indirect patient care services. Under general direction and upon receipt of written
referrals, the Staff Speech-Language Pathologist plans and administers a full range of speech therapy
services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments. Services include patient
evaluations using speech-language pathology tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic
intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic
intervention plans utilizing all aspects of the speech-language pathology scope of practice.
The Staff Speech-Language Pathologist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of
patient care services. While performing job duties, the Staff Speech-Language Pathologist may also
supervise support personnel including Rehabilitation Aides as well as Speech-Language Pathology students
and clinical fellows. The Staff Speech-Language Pathologist actively participates in departmental and
organizational programs, including quality and performance improvement activities, clinical education
programs, and inservices and staff development activities.
 

 

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Masters degree with clinical fellowship o If graduated 15 or more years ago, a bachelor’s degree - Minimum one year of patient care experience. - Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. - Ability to recognize signs of distress. - Basic computer skills including work within Epic electronic medical record. - Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills. - This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. - Pediatric OP Speech and Language Assessment and Treatment clinical experience. - PREFERRED QUALIFICATION - Minimum one year of licensed experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist working with pediatric populations. - Prior speech pathology experience in an academic medical center environment. - Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team. - Current Pediatric FEES and/or MBSS competence REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS - Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board of California. - Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification. - Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing Assessment and Treatment, skills to perform pediatric Modified Barium Swallow Studies.
