Job Description

The Department of Radiology is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation providing imaging services for adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients. The MR Radiologic Technologist provides technical knowledge and/or coordinates the delivery of MRI services. Under the direction of a qualified physician, this position will operate a variety of equipment including high field strength magnets and support systems with MRI safety as a priority. 

The MR Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for patient coordination, acquisition, processing, and archiving of all patient data. This position is responsible for training new staff as well as existing staff on new technologies. The incumbent will maintain and operate equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications, reporting all problems appropriately. The MR Radiologic Technologist is an ARRT licensed technologist who maintains an ARRT sponsored MRI certification and has 1 year of MRI training experience.  

The MR Radiologic Technologist will comply and adhere to department protocols, UCSF policies and procedures, Department of Radiology policies and procedures and other applicable work rules and regulations. Incumbent works independently and under general supervision. The technologist must act with initiative and responsibility to achieve maximum radiographic quality. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in a calm manner even in stressful situations.  Incumbent will interact with Radiologist, Clinicians and peers in a cooperative, harmonious manner for maximum effectiveness. Incumbent must be able to perform all job functions deemed by Department of Radiology.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - ARRT approved MRI Certification - can be obtained within 6 months of hire date for students outside of UCSF - can be obtained after completion of training for internal technologists - BCLS (CPR) Certification - Graduate of a formal radiology technology training program in an AMA approved school. - Minimum 1 year training experience with high field magnetic resonance system. - Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts as well as coverage for weekends and holidays. - Flexibility to rotate to other sites when necessary. - Be able to perform all: 1. Neuro Studies 2. MSK Studies 3. Abdominal Imaging 4. Pediatric Imaging 5. Chest Imaging ( Non Cardiac) PREFERRED QUALIFICATION - Recent work experience in an acute care setting - CRT Licensure - MRSO - Venipuncture Certification LIVING PRIDE STANDARDS Service Excellence - Demonstrates service excellence by following the Everyday PRIDE Guide with the UCSF Medical Center standards and expectations for communication and behavior. Work Environment - Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture. - Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility. - Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows. - Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments. - Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft. LEVEL 1: Access Med Storage Areas for Cleaning LEVEL 2: Access & Transport LEVEL 3: Access, Transport & Stocking Environmental Service Personnel Drivers Anesthesia Technicians Patient Support Assistants (PSAs) Hospital Assistants (depending on specific duties; ask HR if unsure) Hospital Unit Service Coordinators Material Services Personnel Volunteers Medical Assistants Nuclear Medicine Technologists Ophthalmology Technician Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) Pharmacy Storekeepers Radiology Technologists (all modalities, Ultrasound, Mammo, etc.) Instructions: After employee successfully completes the level-appropriate competency, please check the corresponding box below.
