Job Description

Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide safe and therapeutic patient care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams, carrying out established nursing procedures and performing related duties as required. Provides care for patients with complex needs under appropriate guidance and assists in the management of care delivered by other members of the nursing team.

The Registered Nurse (RN) functions as part of the interdisciplinary team caring for patients undergoing procedures or examinations in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL) and/or Cardiology Department across all sites. Responsibilities include preparing patients prior to radiologic procedures, supporting care during procedures, and providing post-procedural care. The RN also assists in the management of patient care during moderate sedation and anesthesia cases.

This role requires a dedicated professional committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to orient and work across all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications - Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of combined experience in PACU, ICU, or CCU, including at least one (1) year of Cath Lab experience - Minimum of one (1) year of directly related RN experience in Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab, Interventional Radiology (IR), or Cardiac Catheterization Lab - Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience or equivalent, including at least one (1) year of recent critical care experience with demonstrated knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring - Ability to provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Cardiology Department across all phases of care (pre-procedural, intra-procedural, and post-procedural) - Ability to wear a lead apron as required for Interventional Radiology, Neuro Interventional Radiology, and Diagnostic Radiology procedures - Ability to monitor patient condition and vital signs before, during, and after procedures - Ability to administer medications and treatments as prescribed - Experience maintaining accurate and detailed patient records and documentation - Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care - Participation in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives - Availability to participate in on-call and late stay shifts - Knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization procedures, including equipment, accessories, sterile technique, and patient care practices - Ability to provide patient education based on plan of care, procedural guidelines, and organizational standards - Flexibility to orient and work across all UCSF Medical Center locations Licensure and Certifications - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California - Current AHA healthcare provider CPR certification - Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Preferred Qualifications - Previous RN experience in pre- and post-procedure care of adult interventional cardiology patients - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) and/or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) certification
