Job Description
The Security Guard / Public Safety Ambassadors protect and guard University property (both clinical and nonclinical); maintain order among the public and the UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents, and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts. The job will involve the ability to push and pull up to 25 pounds; stand and walk for extended periods; carry and lift 21-30 pounds and run short distances. Effective 10/17/23: We are offering a new hire sign-on bonus of $500 to all external hires that have not been employed by a UC in the last 12 months! The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: -High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. -General PC knowledge and demonstrated proficiency using MS Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) -Excellent customer service and effective problem-solving skills; ability to fluently speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English -Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress in emergencies; sound judgment skills -Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability Note: Physical/health screening, fingerprinting, and background checks are required. Preferred Qualifications: -One or more years of experience in the security field -Military experience Required License/Certifications: -License: Valid and unrestricted California Driver’s License- Class C (required) -Certification: BSIS (Guard Card) Certification (completed within one year from date of hire)
